Hi Bob. In my experience I find that the best ponds are those that are either round or very oval. The reason why I say this is because if done properly, you can “T” off the hose leading to the pump so that some of the water goes to the top of the filter and the rest at the bottom of the waterfall along the sides of the pond so that there are no dead areas.
