[Worldwide Koi Club] I Think I Need Advice
Hi Brenda, Sorry to hear your having problems with one of your koi. Have had some computer hard drive problems and I now have more than 2500 email messages unread. Had a hard drive go bad on me that I replaced with a new one. The new hard drive gave up the ghost on me less than two weeks after I bought it, so I’ve been busy replacing the hard drives, installing new Operating Syatems, and doing forensics on the bad hard drives to recover all the information I had stored on them.
I haven’t been able to read all of the email concerning your koi, but it seems like Lorraine has given you some good advise. Something else you might try (or at least buy and have on hand for future problems) is to get one of the very good GEL type medications that are now availible on the market. With the GEL meds, you’ll need to remove the koi from the tank/pond, …. place it into a smaller container and lightly sedate it, …. wipe the sore area dry, …. then apply the gel to the sore area. After a minute or two wait to let the gel set, you can just release the koi back into your main pond and it should be good to go for a good recovery without having to treat the whole tank/pond. Melifix should also be very helpful in the koi’s recovery, … but it’s always nice to know you can treat an individual koi without necessarily having to treat the whole tank/pond .. Best wishes and keep us informed on the koi’s recovery progess, Hugs, Don ikeepkoi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
