The scrubbies that I use are in donut shape and I cut through the middle so that I can pull the scrubbie out like a sleeve. I then cut the end that is tied. Make sure you get the sturdy scrubbies, not the ones that are light in weight because they will just squash down on each other and cause a lack of oxygen to the good bacteria.
