Hi Dave, The pictures of your pond look great. It’s going to look even better when the young shrubs you planted start to develop more. Where’s your green and red Japanese Maples? Don’t you know that every good pond needs to have one of each type in the pond side landscaping? (just kidding but it sure would add a great touch to the ponds overall look). Looks like you’ve done an outstanding job with your pond installation.
What do you mean when you say the water is cloudy? Is it an off white, green or brown color? I can’t really make out any cloudiness from your pictures. What are you using as mechanical and bio-filtration, and how many gallons of filtration (especially bio-filtration) do you have for the pond? After your pond has been up and running for a month or two, the amount of bio-filtration you have will become more important. With the fish load you currently have, you won’t need much bio-filtration, but as the fish grow and you add more fish, the amount of bio-filtration will become more critical for keeping the water parameters good and keeping the pond crystal clear. In my opinion, it’s better to have more bio-filtration than is really necessary. I would not rely on how many gallons of water most of the smaller commercially made biofilters claim to be able to handle. They are usually grossly over-rated in my opinion. When designing and installing your filter system, try to design a system so you can easily increase the amount of bio-filtration in the system (IF needed).
