[Worldwide Koi Club] A Question

Brenda, you are absolutely right in keeping the bottom of the tank clean and free of rocks. We used to bring our Koi inside for the winter and never suffered any losses because the tank bottoms were clean and filtration was more than what was necessary. Also, when fish are inside for the winter in smaller tanks than their outside ponds, they don’t need to eat as much. Hope this helps. I can’t tell you how many ponds we’ve been to which have been built by landscapers who put stones at the bottom of their ponds. What a mess. It seems that in the second and/or third year, fish start dying and if you move the stones around you can see debris floating up and the smell, well, let’s just say it’s more than I can take. :)
Yours Koily, Lorraine
