LOL@”something about alcohol I am told.” You sound like you’d enjoy Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street down here in N’Awlins. Come on down next month! We could always show you the videos of everything you did afterwards… and everything we did to you while you were under the influence of Hurricanes! Of course, you always know you had fun when you have to call friends to find out what you did the night before.

Mardi Gras runs for two weeks and ends on Tuesday, February 24th this year. The actual “Fat Tuesday” falls on a different date every year based on the 40 day Lenten period which runs from Ash Wednesday to Easter and is based on Lunar calendars http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lent. Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday and it’s basically a major two week long blow-out celebration for all of us Catholics to do all of our sinning prior to the Lenten period, which starts on Ash Wednesday when we have to start being good.
A little known factoid… at least for some of us cheaters… the Lenten period is only 40 days yet there are 47 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. This is because they don’t count the Sundays that fall within the 47 day period. Some of us Catholics take this as an OK to forego our Lenten promise starting at midnight on Saturday night… Bu-ca, Bu-ca, Bu-ca!!! LOL
Sorry for the OT shameless plug about Mardi Gras in N’Awlins but we are a major tourism based economy and we are still rebuilding from Katrina so I have to plug our great city every chance I get!
