Water prime problem

I have a problem I hope this list can help me with. I have set up my pump just the way it has run for the last 2 years. The set up is: a home made screened inlet 10″ round to a 15′ long pipe to a back check valve (below water) up (1 1/2′ above water) to a sealed leaf basket and into a sequence pump. There is a “y” before the basket that rises above the basket and pump with a hose inlet to flood the system for priming. From the pump to the filter barrels it rises again about 1 1/2′ and has 3 x 90% ells in 8′ of pipe. All pipe to the pump is 2″ and all pipe from the pump is 1 1/2″. My problem is I am loosing the prime. Before, once the system was flooded and then the pump was turned on it always just kept on going and worked great. Now it takes a while but gradually it will loose the prime and the flow stops. Reflooding starts it up again just to repeat the problem. I have checked the entire line both in smaller sections and in its entire length and it is sound - no leaks of any kind. I am aware that these pumps are designed to “push” not “pull” but it has worked without a hitch for 2 seasons and I thought it was working within its limitations. Any thoughts. I would really like to get this to work again. Thanks.
