For short power outages a battery back up is good. I have stolen the one off my computer to run my parrot brooder. I have seen them advertised for aquariums. Nothing is really going to help for 50 hours. We are out in the woods. Our neighbors right behind us have had their power out for up to a week, but we have been lucky. 8 Hours is our longest in 34 years. Knock on wood. We had a mini tornado go through about 10 years ago. Tore the top off one of the trees across the street and carried it inches over the top of our car, and deposited on top a a wood pile. The next block over the damage started. 50 power poles were broken and had to be replaced before their power could be restored. Nadine
