[UniQuaria] Thinking of venturing into a saltwater tank for the 1st time

Jennifer,

8 months ago I was also in this dilemma. What I did was plenty of reading up on the berlin method of filteration and there is no replacement for patience. The more patience you have, the greater chances of success you have. Its not all that hard but it does prove to be much more expensive to maintain and run than a freshwater tank but I think once it is setup properly and patiently, it is actually easier to maintain than many freshwater setups as the saltwater tank uses more natural techniques than freshwater (Live rock and skimmer for example) .

Do some reading to start with and you can always come back to ask questions J

I only have freshwater tanks but am fascinated by saltwater tanks. Of course, I have heard all the horro stories about how hard it is but others say it has gotten easier. Is there a good beginner guide or is someone willing to share some info about the best way to start?
Thanks -
Jennifer
