[UniQuaria] Synodontis nigriventris (Upside-down catfish)

Hi Beverly,
Unfortunately you are correct on this. There are some nit wits hybridizing synodontis catfish over in Eastern Europe.? I have seen some of them for sale on Aquabid. Very frustrating!
One of my favorites is Synodontis Ocellifer and I have purchased several?of them over the past few years and many of them do not look similar to?each other. So not sure If I have different fish, or someones frankenfish creations.

Hi Mike,
And then there is the problem that many fish are sold under names which may not be correct… I am sure there is a large possibility that not all the fish sold as one species or another are really that. If I decide to proceed with buying one, I will take a good photo of the desired species with me to the shop in hopes that I am getting what I want!
I also wonder if having one in a tank with floating plants which shelter livebearer fry would be a mistake. Since the catfish do eat insect larvae, I wonder if the fry would likely be consumed too since they are a similar size. Worries, worries.
