[UniQuaria] live plants
Make sure your lighting is correct for plants (full spectrum, for example), for one thing. Also, try to choose plants that don’t grow rapidly or super tall, or you’ll create a ton more work for yourself by constantly having to prune those puppies. Since 10 gallon tanks aren’t all that tall, stick with lower growing plants - like plants that don’t exceed 8-10″ in height (depending on your substrate depth). Then figure out what plants will do best in your water supply - water hardness and pH.
I have a list here I’m working up for planning my new tanks, and I’d be happy to share it with you. There are some lower growing plants on the list that might work for you. It’s just a matter of whether your pH and dKH are suited to them. I suspect if you can keep bettas successfully, that’s fine though.
Anyway, let me know if you’d like to see my list of low growing plants (4-8″ is what I put under that heading). I’d be happy to share it either privately or onlist. ![]()

how would I go about doing highly prolific live plants in a ten gallon tank? I am considering getting on ten gallon and having plastic canvas dividers to house my bettas. or even a twenty gallon tank.. I am deciding on going all energy saving technnology.. as for my goldfish… I may get them the twenty gallon and giving the ten gallon to the bettas… I am still in the early stages of planning but I definately want to do live plants.
