[UniQuaria] cycling question
Hi Kelly,
As long as the artificial plant has been in a cycled, established tank for at least a few weeks (can someone else better estimate the minimum time, please?) it will have colonies of ‘good’ bacteria on it. However, I wish you had a larger tank. I realize your money might be tight or space very limited but 1 gallon is the size of a jug of milk and it really isn’t large enough to be a home for fish. Not even 2 neon tetras could have a good life in a 1 gallon tank. Is it possible you could save up more money or carve out some space for, say, a 10 gallon one and return the 1 gallon? If you buy the kit-types at a chain store, they really aren’t that expensive. You and your fish will be happier with the largest tank you can get. You will have fewer worries about water quality (though regular maintenance is a must for all sizes) and your fish will likely live longer and healthier lives, meaning less heartbreak for you. You will also not need to be buying new/replacement fish so often.
I’m not trying to preach, just trying to help head off problems if I can.
So long and happy Sunday, Beverly
Peace, please!
