[UniQuaria] bristle nose pleco question

Plecos have air breathing capabilities. They generally only use it when oxygen content in the tank is low. It’s not necessarily dangerous, particularly if they are doing it primarily in the mornings right after the lights come on in like a planted tank (when oxygen levels tend to be lower from plants AND fish putting out CO2 during the night). If he’s doing it later in the day, you may need to find out how the oxygenation of your tank is doing..

hey guys! i have a bristle nose pleco (i call him Little Monster). he’s been with me for a couple weeks now and today he’s been darting to the surface as if to catch a breath and darting back down to the bottom. should i worry? i’ve never seen him move much before. he mostly just hangs out. thanks!
