[UniQuaria] any thoughts please

Hello whats a good design and what makes it a good design In my openion Euro is the best, ASM (all seas marine) is the same skimmer, except the body is not as thick of plastic as Euro. They use neddle wheel technology, making very fine bubbles. who makes a lousy one and what makes it so bad also sizing Red sea, berlin, back-packs, and on and on the list goes. what sizes are available and how do the different sizes effect the efficiency of the unit Euro and ASM make skimmers that go up to 700 gallon tanks. I would use a ASM G-2 on your 150 gallon tank. The size is rate for these skimmers. I like to go a little larger than what is rated for. i.e. does a large one work as well as a small one or is there an optimal size Go with the largest size that will fix in the area you have for it. (well with in reason)
could a ultraviolet sterilizer be incorporated into the unit without adversely altering the I use UV’s in conjuction with PS with no adverse affect on skimming. I take one return pump, add a valve so I can divert part of the water to the uv and that water is then returned to the tank or sump. performance of either or would the complex molecules be broken by the radiation and therefor smaller be harder to remove by the skimmer I have not noticed any reduction in skimming.
also the filter refugium what is the optimal size and flow rate given a tank in the 150 gallon size range I build refugiums out of 55 gallon tanks, because they have plenty of room for everything you need and because they are mass produced and afordable. I can send you the plans if you like? I sometimes run up to 1400+ gallons an hour thru the refuguims. I allways use TWO pumps on reef tanks, not likely both pumps would fail at the same time. How are you going to get the surface water down to your sump or Fuge? This best way is to buy a pre drilled aquarium with the built in skimmer box or boxs. The other way with hang on overflow box’s are rate 600 ,1200, and 1500 gph per box, so this tells you the max you can send to your sump, then its up to you to use a pump that does not fill faster than you can drain..Hope this helps!
