Traveling with fish

Hi Guys and Gals,
We will be taking a businesss trip in 10 days to Chicago. Going to the Old Town Pet Shop but I am not sure how to get the fish/plants home. Last time I just put thenm in the carry on and that was it.
How to I get thru TSA with the fish? In the carry on, in the checked?
Any suggestions would be appreciated
