Snail snafu

With that kind of strainer, which is very similar to the strainers on most other filter systems, I don’t see how it’s happening. I just did a Google search and do not see where it’s very common either.
Applesnail.net “Discussion” section (forums) are the best place to go for snail help. Them great folks are fanatics about snails. 
I just did a search in their forums - snail stuck on intake - and there’s the current thread (reciprocal thread as is happening here) and then there’s a thread in June 2008 and November 2007… not very frequent incidents. I didn’t read the full threads but I would still speculate that something else was up with the snails before they got stuck to the filter intake… but anything is possible. I’ve seen kids stick their heads between open-riser’s of two stairs and then not be able to get their head back out without the jaws of life (or some other fire department tool back then) spreading the steps open a little… yep… me as a kid.. LOL… and then there’s that Christmas movie where the kid sticks his tongue to the frozen light pole… never did that! LOL
