Sick Tank
I set up my tank last December and everything was going great until recently. A few weeks ago I noticed that one of my plattys had a ragged tail and fins. He was one of the three plattys that survived cycling the tank (I started out with six). The fish seemed fine otherwise and the ragged fins did not progress over a period of a couple weeks. The fish was swimming around fine and eating well. Suddenly, as if over night, hebecame emaciated and his scales looked funny — kind of velvety looking. He looked like he was not going to make it through the night so I fished him out and euthanized him. A day or two later, one of my angel fish died. The corpse looked perfectly healthy. A few days later, my albino rainbow shark died. It had no visable lesions and had not appeared sick. My remaining angel fish has two small spots that look like scales are missing — off-colored round spots at the base of its ventral and dorsal fins.
I need to test water chemistry. Everything was normal when I did a 15-20% water change 10 days ago. I treated the new water with StressCoat about 30 minutes before adding it.
If anyone has suggestions, I’d appreciate them.
