I think I have a tetra that I think is constipated, it can swim fine when it tries hard, but when it stops working at it it flips upside down again and swims kind of sideways. I’m going to try an epsom salt bath like I did for my betta when she […]

My Blue Gourami has a red sore on his Right side near between his eye and his gill. I have quarantined himĀ and I have been treating him with Melafix.. I have been treating him for over a week and he isn’t showing any signs of improving. He isn’t glancing off objects, but I have […]

He seems to be very happy where he is

Oh, at the pet store you can get all kinds of containers. I had a 2.5 gallon fish bowl, just like the gold fish bowls you see all the time. Get Glass as the plastic scratches up when you dump out the gravel in the bottom. However, a rounded shaped, wider mouthed […]

Question is, is he weak because he was stuck, or was he stuck because he was weak?
It is also my understanding that you can sometimes have several females in the same tank, but except for breeding they should not be in the same tank as the male.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply, Lenny. So what I think I am getting from this is “we don’t really know, but possibly”? You mentioned that you thought she was jittery. My fish isn’t jittery. I think someone else had recently written about some goldfish who were, but it is understandable that we get one another […]

Yes. You can really tell when CB swims under the bridge in each video. You know that bridge is going to have to go soon. It’s a big decoration so it’s taking a lot of room in the tank and the chance of it causing harm to your goldfish will rise as […]

What you describe could be attributed to an intestinal protazoan disease; the darkening coloration and the swimming pattern. As Lenny says, it would be a good idea to quarantine this fish, protozoan diseases are highly infectious. A treatment (which I believe can be safely used in conjunction with the Melafix) is to use a […]
