One mix of baking soda and Epsom salts when filling. All the rest is just standard tap water changes. It would be harder if you needed to go from softer to harder though.

Treated lumber has new provisions via the 2007 building codes - you need to look at a reference called AWPA. In short this code is nation wide as all codes are now. Various states & localities can make it harder but can’t fall below the requirements of the Building Code. […]

I would try one more thing if it were me…
I would use bill’s method to remove the gravel. He uses a 1.5 inch in diameter hose and syphons the gravel out. No tear down needed, and no scratches to a acrylic tank. Next I would add new gravel, as little as I […]

Carole just make sure you keep your filter cycled or you will have to cycle your tank all over again and that could be a big pain.

Just having salt in a tank does absolutely nothing to dissuade disease or parasites… unless the salt level is up to the 1 teaspoon per gallon to 3 teaspoons per gallon range (or higher).
