Hello,
Unforeseen circumstances have caused UniQuaria to set in place a few guidelines that all our members should be aware of. These guidelines will be updated as needed and posted to the list once per month. This frequent posting may be a nuisance but since new members are continually subscribing, this is a necessity. white scum on water surface

In doubt of what’s causing this, I would be doing partial water changes every day, if it’s soap or something like that it should dilute by doing so. Test for ammonia if possible and check your temperature as well, I just helped someone with a hot water problem, some plants were rotting away from the […]

Low light and no corals to compete for nutrients… a “coraline’s dream” Ironic how what we try so hard to grow in reef tanks is so easy to grow where you don’t want it! Still a sign of good water though Trevor, is it growing well on your rock too?
How do you get […]

In a densly populated coral tank, such as mine, a calcium reactor is a huge help to maintain proper calcium and alkalinity levels. I also dose the occasional Kalkwasser in the top-off water. Individual products such as B-Ionic for me are used solely to correct any imabalances which are rare once the calcium reactor is […]

Hard to compare the two however, purple up is calcium and iodine while the two-part B-Ionic is calcium and alkalinity. All are important elements, but calcium, alkalinity and magnesium are the more important elements for calcification. They are also […]

airstones

The tank in question is from Hawkeye and it is a one gallon tank that uses a UGF for filtration. I will try cleaning the stone as Giancarlo suggested. And the betta in there has always managed a bubble nest with this filter running the entire time. I happen to like that I can […]

airstones

Agreed… but I figured the question itself merited a reply too.
I don’t use airstones either, however I can see some minor benefits in using one where no other form of circulation is present. If anything even to avoid eccessive surface film from flake foods, this can effect the rate of gas exchanges and ultimately PH.
Probably […]
