[AquaticLife] Algae bloom in my 55 gallon

Yes the filters run during the whole process unless I’m doing the filter cleaning for the week. This time I propped the hose up so the water poured into the tank with a lot of surface agitation, I would let buckets sit out but my cats would play in them . […]

[AquaticLife] Algae bloom in my 55 gallon

Also the green water seems worse since I did the water change earlier this afternoon…. Should I do less water changes? I’m so confused, LOL.

[AquaticLife] Algae bloom in my 55 gallon

Yes bubbles form on the sides of the tank and some of the ornaments. I did another water change today and the algae got worse so I will definitely let it outgas more when I refill again. Should I do another PWC tonight? I did one earlier today.

[AquaticLife] Algae bloom in my 55 gallon

Well I usually leave it inside the tank, but when I just did a water change I had it splashing onto the back wall of the tank or in one corner of the tank, so most of the time it was above the water. I can start letting it splash more to […]

[Worldwide Koi Club] Waterfall foam sealant question

Jeannie,
I second Don’s advice on wearing the latex gloves which I neglected to mention. You will have sticky black all over your hands for days if you don’t.

[Worldwide Koi Club] Waterfall foam sealant question

Jeannie, From the pictures you sent showing the outlet pipe, it didn’t look like there was an awful lot of outflow from the pond. Do you know about how much water flows through the pond (GPH) this early in the spring? If it’s not in excess of 1200 - 2000 GPH, you should […]

[AquaticLife] Nitrifying Bacteria-Calculations?

It has more to do with bioload than tank size or water volume.
The filter media mass and/or surface area is, in most cases, suitable for the tank size(s) listed on the filter. The problem comes with how/when so many fish keepers over stock their tanks. It wouldn’t be hard to test though. […]
