[AquaticLife] Question about a refugium… sort of

There are lots of ways to do this. Were you going to have both tanks in the open or was one going to be hidden?
One of the simplest would be to use a canister filter system with the intake line in one tank and the return line in the other tank and then use […]

[AquaticLife] Yoo-Hoo All Newbies on List

You’re welcome Bill. But I’m not sure that article is for “newbie’s”. I think it would leave most newbie’s scratching their heads… but it is a GREAT article for folks who have a basic understanding of the nitrogen cycle, as it goes into many other facets of the tank’s ecology and how things […]

[AquaticLife] Newbie and need advise on getting started

OK. The first one is likely a Rubbermaid Stock Water Trough… quite often used for mini-ponds. The second one sounds like a typical kidney shaped plastic pond sold at many of the big-box home stores.
Here’s a link I have in my favorites, to a “Horse Trough Pond” made with a Galvanized steel water […]

[AquaticLife] Bichir Emergency !!!

I’ve never had to do it but I’ve read a few articles on manually “stripping” a goldfish of it’s eggs for breeding purposes. It can be simple but once a fish is egg-bound, it gets much more difficult and can cause injury. I don’t have any of the articles saved in my favorites […]

It sure sounds like you got hit with a serious Typhoid-Mary fish. […]

[AquaticLife] Nitrifying Bacteria-Calculations?

Oops.. here’s one more simple DIY Sponge Filter article that I had in my favorites folder. This one is done quite a bit differently but still works the same for biological and some mechanical filtration.

[AquaticLife] How to refurbish an older aquarium?

Here’s a couple of sites (that I have in my favorites folder) that go through how to re-silicone a tank. I would keep the top frame like others have said and just put the cracked part where it’s least noticeable.
