My new betta, who has his own gallon and a half clear plastic salad container with beautiful fresh clear spring water, has a large blue-green-white slightly sunken spot on his face. I’ve had him for less than a day; he came from Petsmart in one of those little plastic things […]

Do a series of PWC’s (partial water changes) to dilute/remove the clarifier. No more than 25% PWC’s at a time but do 3 or 4 of them to remove most of the clarifier crap and provide the fish with fresh clean water. Make sure you add dechlor to the water while refilling pond after […]

Hmm, well I’d say that next time you should silicone them to the bottom of the tank, but then they’re not move-able at all… Perhaps you could silicone them to a flat rock?

While I do NOT condone overstocking a tank, I understand it does happen. What the fish keeper needs to do, when their tank is overstocked, is do more frequent PWC’s, gravel vacuuming and filter cleaning to remove the fish waste and dilute the pollution in the water. This “pollution” includes DOC’s (dissolved organic compounds […]

There’s a good chance that the fish are in shock… either pH, temperature or osmotic (water parameter) shock. Hopefully they will all recover OK but any of these three shock conditions can be fatal. Only time will tell. The usual treatment for shock is to remove the fish to the water they […]

I think you might be mis-reading some forum posts.
When refilling a tank directly from a faucet, like when using a Python Water Change System, there is NO NEED to add a full tank dose of dechlor. Only add enough dechlor for the amount of water being replaced. You DO want to add this […]

Yeah I bought those breather bags and the BN plecos didn’t arrive alive. They punctured the bags. So I’m back to using the regular bags for shipping them. I could use them for the shrimp though.
As for the filter pad, they cut a tiny piece and put it in the bag with the […]

I don’t know but I guess it’s possible. It’s pretty expensive if used for that purpose. I’ve never gotten any fish in with any kind of filter media in it. More than likely, the shipper might have just take a piece of normal poly-pad that is cycled and put that in the […]

My pH is low most of the time, and I had to struggle at first to figure out what kind of fish I could keep with my pH of 6-6.5. I also have very soft water, it barely reads when I test it off of the tap, so I add coral (dead […]

Why is only Gill Flukes (Dactylogyrus) being suspected, when Skin Flukes (Gyrodactylus) is the more prevalent of the two in aquarium fish? While either can still affect aquarium fish, with Gill Flukes being more commonly seen on Golfdfish as Lenny states, Skin Flukes would manifest itself as the fish flashing as has been described, […]
