Harry,
With regard to those filter tests, I would set forth that most green water would leave no residue in the filter because the unicellular algae causing it would pass right through the filter since the filter would not be fine enough to capture the algae. If this were so, one may need to wait much […]

I would try one more thing if it were me…
I would use bill’s method to remove the gravel. He uses a 1.5 inch in diameter hose and syphons the gravel out. No tear down needed, and no scratches to a acrylic tank. Next I would add new gravel, as little as I […]

You vacuum the gravel weekly right? You should be doing so if not. I think I remember you do weekly filter maintenance right? Been awhile since you posted. Does the other tank have live plants or do both tanks have fake plants? Is the decoration and gravel color the only difference between the […]

What kind of substrate do you have? Is this a planted tank? How deep is the gravel? When is the last time you vacumed it? Have you poked your fingers or something else around in it recently/and do you do that regularly? What kind of decorations and/or plants do you have? […]

If you could give us the brand and medicine you are considering/comparing, it would be easier.
If I saw on a package that it “treats 100 gallons”, then I would presume that it would provide a full treatment for a 100G tank, according to its instructions. Half of that treatment would be suitable for a […]

Yes, he is not as active as normal, and hides more than normal as well. He is in the 125 gallon so the O2 should not be an issue as that tank is way over filtered. He doesn’t rest on the bottom of the tank, but he’s hiding more. As to the […]

Red-Eye,
Be very careful of using a credit card in your fish tank, in fact I would advise against it, especially if the tank is anywhere near a phone outlet. Fish have more brains than we give them credit for and sooner or later you’re going to […]

Have you tried taking a sample of your water to your LFS to see if they can test it for you, just to be sure something isn’t going wrong at home? Are you testing the water before a PWC and then after to see if anything has changed? Just ideas, Amber

I have not fed anything different lately, and for awhile, I thought a mini pleco I have had died because he was missing…except he appears to have made the inside of a rock home and he comes out now and again at night to clean the glass but most of the day, he lives […]
