My concern is that these are wild caught and I want to make sure to have algae on hand in case they don’t eat the wafers right away, I don’t want to end up losing any due to starvation.

Most of us are trying to fight off excess algae, LOL. You don’t need natural light…tank lights do fine.

Okay after seeing pictures of the hillstream loaches with tons of snails around the tank (from plants), I’m very sure that these guys aren’t going to eat any of the bigger mystery snails.

Well living room window it is then, LOL. I think I can hide it behind the guppy fry tank for now, until the fry are big enough to go with the other fish, then I’m not sure what that tank will be for I will have to keep it cycled […]

Did you have any sort of filter in/on the tank? I have either west facing windows or east facing windows as my options.
