[AquaticLife] A Quite Mail Day?

Okay, she still has something in her mouth, it’s tan colored. Perhaps she ate a smaller fry and it’s stuck? LOL how’s that for karma? She’s still swimming around fine though, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen with her, as you said she should have suffocated by now. It has […]

[AquaticLife] A Quite Mail Day?

I’m just feeding normal omega one flake food and decapped brine shrimp eggs (the flake food is ground up). I guess I will keep an eye on the fry, I couldn’t see anything in her mouth today when I fed them earlier. I will check at their next feeding.

[AquaticLife] A Quite Mail Day?

Both of the pieces are new, the one on the left is true drift wood that I soaked for about a month in a tub to get it to sink, then sanitized it again in the dishwasher for good measure. The root looking one is the dead wood piece. I had it […]

[AquaticLife] A Quite Mail Day?

I had it half soaked, it wouldn’t fit in the tub I was using. I also washed it in the dishwasher on sanitizing mode as well. I have it in the fish tank right now (as you can see from my pic of my 55 gallon tank if it’s been approved). I […]

[AquaticLife] A Quite Mail Day?

Lenny had good weather today so I wasn’t office-bound.
I would test soak your dead wood first (in a tub or something outdoors) for a few weeks to see how it does. Often, dead wood that is not water bound will be home for lots of land critters.

[AquaticLife] DIY Lights

I thought I sent this email yesterday, but it never did go through so I’ll resent it.  I’ll try to answer some of the questions Lenny ask.  I don’t plan on adding many more fish if any.  Maybe some bottom feeders.
I have four kinds of plants, Anubias nana, Cryptocoryne wendtii, Echinodorus bleheri and Java fern.  The […]

[AquaticLife] DIY Lights

I would take it slowly. How are your plants currently doing? Are they fast growing plants or slow growers or ??? You should probably cut back on the time of lighting for now. If you use to have the lights on for 10 hours a day, I’d cut bake to 7 […]

It’s pah-tee time! Except for otos

Well, I put two pieces of zucchini in the tank yesterday afternoon, rubber banded to a rock, adn only one of them ever went near it. This afternoon I found that it had sprouted a nice crop of water mold. This afternoon I went to the creek, […]

[AquaticLife] Help Needed

Do you know what kind of turtle? RES (Red Ear Slider) is a common type and are kind of easily identified by their reddish-orange ears.
In general, those cute little 1″ to 2″ turtles grow HUGE with the RES growing to the size of a dinner plat (9″ to 12″ diameter). Because of this, […]

[AquaticLife] Glass shrimp

If it was an empty 20G tank, you could have hundreds. If the 20G tank is already full, then maybe not any. What else is in the 20G? Some fish find shrimp tasty so you can’t just put them into any tank or they will just become expensive fish food.
Cherry shrimp are […]
