Eheim 2227 and PH
Does running an Eheim 2227 wet/dry on a fresh water tank lower the ph of the tank. All my tanks always have a ph of 7.2-7.4 . Bay Shore tap water is the same. The only changes I have made to my main 55g is to add […]

Thanks everyone for your help! I am going to go forth and try it.
Let me explain in detail what I plan on doing. I have several fishtanks:
(2) 55 gallon (3) 20 gallons (3) 10 gallons. Along with the smaller tanks I was given H.O.T filters and accessories. The 55 gallon is my established […]
Hello All, I was given a plant and it has leeches on it. I have a quarantine kiddie pool set up that I put new plants in. There is a bubbler in there, for 3 baby comets to keep the mosquito population down. The problem is one leeches ewww, how do […]
I will go along with your comments here. Feeding less than once per day is something that I only do when I see my water temp has dropped under 50 degrees or is over 90 degrees.
Ususly with my water temp between 68 degrees and 75 degrees I will feed 3 or […]
Steve,
I just wanted to clarify that I didn’t suggest aeration from the bottom of the pond but rather a floating surface bubbler so it doesn’t cause any actual movement in the total pond volume so the thermoclines stay uniform. It just relies on the warm air from the pump rather than a coil heater.

The Sailfin Mollies are not the hardiest fish. The tank is cycling, but both Mollies and Platys like salt in the water. Did you buy the distilled water, or the spring water? Spring water is usually very hard, and should be okay. Distilled water has all of the minerals removed, […]

Being a bit Type-A about things, we got the (29-gal) tank, filters, bubblers, substrate, plastic plants, “ornaments” and so on around Christmastime 2007. We spent the next 6 or 7 weeks reading, […]
Dear Lorraine,
The filter was dismantled and cleaned this evening and as you suggested, it was beyond disgusting. I’m REALLY glad I had the weight of yours and Kim’s advice to persuade Malcolm to do this job because he was able to see for himself that he was dead wrong about the […]

Mark said, “…My question is how to keep raccoons out of the pond!…”
Quick answer… 22 long’s?? No, it’s not a aquarium size.
And here’s what to do with the Raccoon’s euthanized by the 22 longs… “Roadkill Stew!” LOL http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1948,149173-240206,00.html
But seriously, there are many methods to help deter varmin from foraging in your pond. […]
