Okay after using the flourish excel for several days now I can already see an improvement in the growth of the plants and a lot less hair algae is left in the tank, so the flourish is doing something right I still notice that my cory’s no longer swim up at […]

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

Thanks for the tip, I will keep that in mind if the flourish excel doesn’t do anything for the 55 gallon, I think I’m going to try it out on the ornaments from the 125 gallon though, I’m tired of all the BB algae in the tank… although it’s probably nice and […]

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

I keep a bucket of hydrogen peroxide solution near tank when doing PWC. Rocks come out and go in bucket during PWC. Hydrogen peroxide (tiny amount) is drizzled on my in tank background. Replace and refill as usual. This is done weekly until under control and then as required. The stuff […]

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

I tried that trick on the black beard algae and I gave up after a week or so as it wasn’t doing anything for it. I suppose I could take all the ornaments out that have the BB algae growing on it and dunk it in hydrogen peroxide and see if it […]

Are Koi afraid of turkeys?

Don and Lorraine,
Thanks for the thoughtful replies. No, my fish are not lethargic, but they are just swimming around the bottom. I haven’t seen the turkey in about 2 days and this morning, the fish came to their feeding ring to be fed. So the turkey must have spooked […]

planning on a new fish

Hi, How big is your tank?  Goldfish prefer at least one friend, though if it isn’t big enough, it would be much healthier alone.  It all depends on the size of your tank!  They are beautiful!   -Jennifer

[AquaticLife] Hello, I am new and new to fish

Hi Rachel,
Where do you live? I’m in North Judson IN.
Ok Now for the fishie questions. What size tank do you have? Cory’s like to have a group to be happy. Normally 3 will do, but they do like more, 5 is better if the tank is big enough.
