55G…125G…even shorter than tank A. Works as long as you don’t have 2 that are the same size, LOL.

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

Whoops I’m tired, I really meant to say, “The 125 gallon only grows “regular” green algae and black beard algae…” No duckweed in the 125 gallon… The 55 gallon has the hair algae, and is just now starting to grow “regular” green algae on the glass instead of hair algae (which is […]

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

I think I’m gonna have to name the tanks, I’m starting to get too many to just say “the 55 gallon” LOL I have the 2nd 55 gallon still empty, hubby has to weld the stand together *tap tap tap*. Can’t say upstairs and downstairs either cuz there’s more than 1 […]

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

The loaches are in the tank with black beard algae, and the 55 gallon doesn’t have much surface tension it has a rena filstar xp 4 on it. The duckweed is still alive it’s just getting attached to the hair algae and the parts that get attached die off. It’s a battle […]

[AquaticLife] One algae after the next…

I think I told you before that duckweed doesn’t like a lot of surface agitation and will not reproduce well in those tanks. It grows THICK in my Cherry shrimp tank and I regularly put some into my goldfish tank for them to munch on but the duckweed will not proliferate in that tank […]

air stones

As long as you have surface agitation they are un needed. The water will absorb oxygen from the surface as long as there is agitation and it isn’t touching a cover. I only have one going to run an UGF in a 2.5 gallon and don’t […]

Several things can cause an algae bloom but the most common cause is due to a rapid increase in nutrients, light and CO2. While you may not be able to control the lighting […]

[AquaticLife] Newbie and need advise on getting started

\Steve//,
I came up with 64G for the Rubbermaid. Maybe you should have specified inches also… since you seem to have had a problem converting “4 feet”. LOL (Just getting you back for your reference to me wanting the measurements in inches.. LOL) I only did my math twice though… not […]

[AquaticLife] Algae bloom in my 55 gallon

Yes the filters run during the whole process unless I’m doing the filter cleaning for the week. This time I propped the hose up so the water poured into the tank with a lot of surface agitation, I would let buckets sit out but my cats would play in them . […]

[AquaticLife] Duckweed and Severum acting odd.

He is still the same. When I put in the sinking carnivore pellets (which he used to come charging for across the aquarium), he just ignores them, he wants nothing to do with the pellets. But he will still eat frozen foods.
