Re:My DIY Filtration system

I made it already the things that I used were as followed 1. storage bin (any size you wish to use). 2. river rocks as a form of filtration media 3. all purpose sand as a form of filtration media 4. material used to provide shade for outdoor patios as a form of filtration media 5. fiberglass screen cut up in rectangle pieces as a form of filtration media 6. fabric used as cushion for quilts 1/2 inch thick form of filtration media 7. metal screen used in small animal cages as a form of filtration media. 8. hose to connect the connections and pump togther 9. 4 rubber washers 10. 2 conections to pump water in the bin and out to the pond. 11. 2 nuts that fit the connections to lock the connecters in place. first you find the spots to put the connecters then cut out the places you choose to put them at, get some pipe thread and put one washer on the connections twist it in place then put the nut with the other washer on the connecter tighten and lock in place, do the other one the same. Make sure one is close to the top and the other is close to the bottom. now take it out side to finish the rest it will become heavy depending on how much you put in side of it. make sure the river rocks are washed, now put them in the bin an inch or two (some one told me to get smaller rocks to fill the bottom and then put some type of cloth filter to make a barrier between the smaller and river rocks so it will clean better.) put the shade cloth on top fold it to fit in the bin.( its sold by the foot and is a length of 6 feet) Put the sand on top of the shade fabric. Get the fiberglass screens that are cut into pieces to fit into the bin and place them on top of the sand. The material used in the middle of quilts needs to be cut too so it fits in the bin. Now the material used for smaller animals cages goes on top. I put a sliced brick on top of it so it wont go up for anything. then the lid goes on top. I then connect the clamps to the hose one to the top connecter and one with the pump. it is placed on top of the pond with the filtered water coming out of the bottom. It has been going for 2 days and I can not believe the job it has done on my pond. It is getting clear realy fast, I cleaned out the white material used on quilts already and put 2 pieces of them over the cage material. Yesterday the water was a lil green and today it is clear and I can not believe how it was like the day before and all of a sudden its like clear as ever. I will be putting photos up for every one to see. If you need help putting one of these togther message me and let me know maybe I can help walk you through.
