Really struggling with temperature control

Besides the possibility of your heater not being accurate or of good quality, I have experienced similar problems with oversized heaters in the past… Not sure if that’s your problem, I would think a 50- 75W heater is all you need for a 10g tank, but I recall having these problems when all I had was a larger 150W in a 10g quarantene tank, the temperature would swimg up and down all day. I figured once the heater turned off it took some time to cool down and possibly was continuing to raise the temperature in the tank…
You don’t really need degrees on the scale, you can use a thermometer to dial it in properly, but only if it’s holding a steady temperature.
If you can, pick up a 50W Eheim/Ebo-Jagger heater, they have a great reputation.
Hope that helps Giancarlo Podio, LMD
