Question, problem with my pond.

1. The fish are about 5 inches..maybe and there are 4 of them. They are not koi. 2. The only thing I know abou the filter is it is a biological filter, and its external. It has a UV light, and can be backwashed. It has bio balls in it, and filter pads. Sorry I don’t know more. 3. I checked the exp date, it s 02 of 2012…we have a ways to go! 4. Temp is 68.8. It was warmer on Sunday but has cooled down some. 5. There fins are not clamped, but they are on the bottom of the pond. If you approach the pond, they will come up, but when you leave, they go back down.
I don’t mind the questions because I need to find a solution. The only thing we can think of is something is leeching out of the tub, but it hasn’t done it through last summer or this winter…why now? The pond co said it may be something that is breaking down with time?
