3000 gallons is enough for up to 8 to 10 - 24″ koi. IMHO you want to pump over 5000 gallons per hour and have a minimum of 300 gallons in filtration if you want to push the fish load. The 7 gold fish will soon become 70. How deep do you plan on going? 3′ is minimum 4 feet is OK 5′ is better and 6′ rocks. Depending on your plan area you may want to have 2 bottom drains and 2 skimmers. Go deeper now and you will be happier later.
Yep, I’ve never heard a pond keeper say he wished his pond was smaller!!! I have two ponds and I sure wish my second was twice the size and I haven’t even finished it yet….lol Sue
