[Ponds-Koi] Water prime problem
Is air getting sucked in somehow? Either at the inlet or from a hairline crack in the line? Since the pump is “sucking” rather than pushing, you might not see a small hairline crack and it might not leak since air is getting sucked in through the crack rather than water leaking out of it. You could try reversing the flow and capping one end to see where water might squirt out.
