[Ponds-Koi] Mega Algea!

DO NOT USE the chemicals. They will only make things worse for your ponds overall ecology and could possibly kill some or all of your fish. We just had another thread recently where someone lost all of their fish after using an algaecide. Algae is a result of other things wrong with your pond so you must fix those other things and then the algae will go away.
Tell us more about your pond.
Dimensions or how big is it?
How many goldfish/Koi do you have and their sizes?
What are your water parameters… ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, temperature and any other tests you have?
Did you do pond cleaning/maintenance prior to over-wintering? Have you done any pond cleaning/maintenance since spring started?
What kind of filtration system do you have and what maintenance do you do on it?
Remember that as goldfish/Koi grow, for each time they double their length (2″ to 4″), they increase their bodymass (aka bioload) by 800%. An 8″ fish is equal in body mass to over 500 1″ fish. As the fish grow and reproduce, it’s very easy for a pond to become overstocked and that is a leading cause of algae problems due to the excess nutrients from the huge increase in fish waste.
This means you must do more frequent PWC’s (partial water changes), pond bottom cleaning and filter maintenance to help remove these increased nutrients.
