I recently opened a new business “Professional Pond Maintenance and Fish Care”. I also made a website to promote it. I’m based out of Southern Oregon. I’m hoping to get any feedback, good or bad, on my site. Can you read it easily? Ads or no Ads?

Christian, spent a little time at your web site. It’s a nice site!! Here are some observations from a serious koi keeper that you may wish to incorporate into your web site. Once you have had some feedback on your web page, it is a policy of this list not to encourage or promote a business entity here. If you check out our Yahoo site, you’ll see a place where you can post a link to your business. That is the place to do that. OK, since many of us here are koi keepers (not all, but many) it is important that you understand where we come from. Most of us have started with water gardens only to find out this is not a proper home for koi. A pond under 5,000 gallons should only house a few mature koi or growing koi if they are to remain healthy and grow properly. I say this because I looked at the filtration you offer. This is not ample for a koi pond. I sincerely hope that in your recommendations to you customers that you discourage keeping koi in a water garden, small shall ponds, etc. These fish need big water, efficient and well maintained filtration and good food. I did notice that you are offering some quality foods though. That was nice to see. To say that all someone has to do is feed their fish is giving your customer the opinion that this is all that is needed for the proper care of these creatures. Folks need to know what they are getting into when they choose to keep koi. Goldies are another kettle of fish (pun intended) and can handle water quality that koi cannot so if you promote keeping goldies in these ponds, your customers will be happy and you will have repeat business. Good luck in your new business. Sue
