[Ponds-Koi] Evaporation
Quite frankly, I would love to see some evaporation. Our temperatures have dropped and the fish are all thinking that summer was awful short. Lori

Well, it has been discussed before about evaporation. I found out over the past couple days just how fast water will evaporate when the conditions are right. With my little 250 deck pond and normal weather here in the Texas panhandle I gave to ad water once a week or so to compensate for normal evaporation. I did a PWC yesterday morning early and filled it all the way to the cool place I think it looks good. Later yesterday the local temp here in Amarillo Texas hit 103 with strong winds. Today it hit 100 with the same wind and very, very low humidity both days. When I got home today the pond was about an inch and a half or a little more low and I had to add more water. I know what some of you are thinking, I have a leak, No, I checked all that and the surrounding area is bone dry. I have just has some big time evaporation. I learned a lot today with lots of evaporation and baby fish and squatter fish I didn’t even know about. Wally Amarillo Texas
