[Ponds-Koi] can mother nature cut me some slack here?!
Thanks Sue, I’ll keep an eye on her. Her lip looked a little better last night.

We’ve been having some crazy weather up here in Minnesota. Had a
tornado rip thru one day & straight line winds the next! No damage I can’t fix (glued flower pot and bird bath etc). However one of my fish was roughed up. Ironically I have a ceramic-type fish sitting on top of a wicker chest in a sitting area by the pond. When the winds came thru that fish rode that wicker basket to the pond, it stopped ubruptly when it hit the landscape block on the edge of the pond and that fish was launched in the air and flew right into the pond. One of my big female goldies must’ve been hit w/ the fish b/c she’s got a scrape on her face and her lower lip is a little split. Poor thing! I feel terrible. Hubby says fish are tough and she’ll be o.k. She’s swimming around and eating like normal. I feel like giving her a valium or somthing =) Just kidding. I think I will find a new spot for that ceramic fish though! Hunkerin down in windy Minnesota. -Pam S.
Sure was a rough few days with those storms!! Lots of tree and tree limbs down around here. Some runoff into the big pond which I’m cleaning up now, but a little dirt won’t hurt them for now.
Pam, for your koi that got beaned on the head, I would watch her closely. As long as the wound appears healthy, white without infection, she should heal just fine. If you see it start to “fester” up into something more, then let us know. I have some meds on hand that I’m willing to share if needed.
