Pond rocks.

Dennis, Sounds like you did a pretty good cleaning of your pond. Most people don’t realize just how much mulm and decaying matter can build up un-noticed, in, under, and around rocks and other items they have in their ponds. Any time you decide you’re going to be doing a thorough cleaning like you just did, be sure to use a strong stream of water to thoroughly flush the mulm from your streambed too. Even though the streambed looks clean, the same type of decaying matter and mulm will settle under and between the rocks/gravel in your streambed too. It’s not usually as bad as what can settle inside the pond, but it can still get pretty gunky. The skimmer you’re planning to install should help you keep the pond bottom cleaner, with much less effort. Don ikeepkoi
