Anyone have questions? This stuff is very basic and necessary for any pond type project - and it can be tough to grasp. So, we have all been there, and done dat - so what do you, or you, or even YOU, not quite understand?

Bill, you’re gonna really laugh when I tell you how I size pumps and pipes. Everything is 3″ no matter what … from the pond and returns. That way I don’t get myself into any trouble. To size pump I meter the water volume and stick in the size I want for turnover rates. Usually 1 1/2 times each hour figuring some loss for head. THEN I build the filters to accommodate the water flow. Thankfully I have only had to build a few ponds and I’ve been lucky to get away with doing it this way …… ……so far anyway…. ROTF!!! My mind is too tired and too old to deal with all the math!!! But for the rest of you….listen to Bill!! The man knows from where he speaks!!! Sue
