Our pond was netted, but the bird was greater than the net. It is the most helpless feeling when you see what looks like a DC10 (Big Plane) flying off with what looks like a salmon (your koi up in the air in the tallons of the big bird at about 50 feet up in the air) going south to the big trees the 6 ft wing spanned Great Blue Harron calls home.
I DID add some photos to your photo album, of the way the pond USED to be. I didn’t get the new pond photos in just yet. I will see about adding them here in a while.
The net was broken right in the middle, like a cannon ball went through it. although the net worked for all the other birds we have around here, and there are 151 species of birds here, some permanant, and some are migratory. Most live here permanantly. Mendocino county, on the skirts of the Redwood Forest. We have bears, Mountain lions, and deer, possums, raccoons, and a number of other larger preditory animals, so in 15 years of having that pond, THIS bird was the most devastating. A Great Blue Harron!
Ok…. I’m gonna add some new pics to your photo album. Cheers, Lisa C http://www.ZenPonderings.com There are some photos on my website too.
