My pump keeps plugging!

I doubt you will ever find a pre-filter for a submersable pump that will not clog up. In the spring time algae and all other growing stuff is well growing and getting caught in the prefilter screen. What you are discribing is just what I went through when I had 2 1200 gph sub-pumps. It is much easier to pump the solids to an out of the pond prefilter (sieve/strainer or vortex). This way you can remove the built up “stuff” and recycle it to the garden (good stuff). Cleaning the pond with this in place is much easier. I use a pool brush and brush the sides of 1/2 of my pond every other week. The stuff floats down to the bottom and eventually gets into the pick up and to the exterior pre-filter. I often have to clean the prefilters every other day but it takes all of 2 min to complete.
