Is RO water absolutelty necessary for Discus?

Christ, does it actually work? I have been using epoxy and apart from the fact that it takes a couple of hours to harden I find it very useful. Now superglue gel would be brilliant but I would **** in my pants by just the thought of using it in my saltwater tank :-s

How long does it take to harden? Does it not affect the water quality or the spirits in it have any affect on any inverts?

You might have guess that I am still trembling with fear about even trying it and will probably need guts of steel for the first go.

More of a saltwater thing where we need to attach live corals to rock which can’t be pulled out of the tank. When I first started keeping corals I was told to use superglue gell or epoxy directly underwater… it seemed odd, scary actually, but now I’m used to it…
Heck I was scared the first time I used a python-like device to fill the tank directly from the faucet and adding conditioner to the tank rather than treating the water in buckets ahead of time… another thing that has become an everyday event :-)
