Monday Update (Day 19 of reduced salt; 35 total)
Saturday: - 5G PWC started at 1:30pm, had a plumbing emergency and couldn’t replace water until 5pm (5tsp salt, .5ml Prime, SafeStart) - Got tired of waiting for tank to cycle and figured the biomax in the filter could not have done well waiting for it to be turned back on, so I decided to try the SafeStart and see if it works - 11PM: pH: 7.4; Ammonia: .25ppm; Nitrite: .25ppm; Nitrate: 10ppm - Decide against doing another PWC and give the SafeStart a chance to work
Sunday: - 11AM: pH: 7.4; Ammonia: almost 0ppm; Nitrite: .25ppm; Nitrate: about 15ppm
Monday (today) -11AM: pH: 7.4; Ammonia: almost 0ppm; Nitrite: .25ppm; Nitrate: about 15ppm (would have thought that would be higher than yesterday - there’s not that much algae in the tank)
I’ve pretty much decided Lucille is going through a color change, but I’ll keep an eye on it.
In the future, when I do a PWC that goes long, I’ll take the biomax out of the filter and place it in a bowl of tank water until I turn the filter back on.
