I usually leave algae on the back glass or any that I do not view my tank through. Algae is part of nature’s way of helping to keep your tank clean of nitrogenous waste… they are single celled plants after all… so they are not bad to have.. just some folks don’t like looking at it. If it starts building up too fast, it also tells you that your tank is overstocked, you’re not doing enough maintenance or you have other water chemistry issues like too high of CO2 or too much phosphates or nitrates, etc… so it’s like a warning sign also. Right now, in your overstocked situation, you should probably leave as much as you can tolerate to help with the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate issues and to help clean the water of other stuff that your fish don’t need also. Also, by allowing it to thrive on one pane of glass, it will be less likely to grow on other panes since the algae you let thrive will be utilizing more of the waste which would inhibit growth elsewhere. When you finally get some fast growing live plants going, then you can start cleaning back the algae more to leave more food for the plants.
Why do you need a task scheduler to tell you to go to bed? My eyes usually tell me. ![]()
