bloated tetras
Hello. I have a very well established planted tank with some rescue tetras in it with some male endlers. They have all been in there for over a year now with only one death in the early days. There have been no new additions, water tests great, healthy diet, etc. About a week and a half ago I noticed one of the tetras looked swollen. She has now swelled so much that her spin is curving upwards with the bloat. She is active, eats, and so on. I thought she might have been egg bound. Today I noticed a reddening around her rear, but no swelling there specifically. Now, one of the other tetras, also a female, is showing a little bit of swelling, though not grossly bloated like the first one (yet!). There are no open wounds, no visible hints other than the extreme bloat and now reddening around the anus. Could she be extremely egg bound/have some sort of ‘neon tetra disease’ or ??? Any hints would be appreciated. I may have to put her to ’sleep’ and would like to be sure there isn’t anything I can do for her, and now one of the other tank mates.
