Black hair algae??

The siamese algae eater (SAE) eats this algae, it will also eat most mosses unfortunately. Black Brush algae tends to prevail in carbon deficient aquariums where there is sufficient light and nutrients to grow live plants. Flourish Excel dosed as directed will help keep this algae from becoming a problem. Many people dose it at double the suggested dose to fix such problems. It will also help the plants a lot after a couple weeks of dosing.
