[AquaticLife] Sea Shells
All shells should be avoided, unless you have a tank with hard water. The shells will gradually leach their calcium, raising the hardness of the water. The more acidic your water, the quicker this will happen.
If you must use the shells, you should give them a chlorine bleach soak, followed by a good rinsing. Even then, depending on the type of shell, you may not be able to get everything that could rot out of the shell, and that would not be good for your aquarium.
