[AquaticLife] OT - Computer problems - IE freezing up???

Firefox has just as many issues, so no, that is not a solution. As a web developer, I use both. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Chrome was pretty blah and lack, well, features… If you like Firefox, use it. If you like IE…use it. neither one is better than the other. Most corporate environments use IE as their standard. You also my be accessing a site that was designed for an older version of IE. IE has a broken page icon on it…click on that and it will put it in compatibility mode (the latest version is a bit more strict on it’s rendering of html) and that should fix most problems not related to third party products.
There are many sites on the net that don;t work well with Firefox. The flash issue is not an IE issue…it’s a flash issue. I have experienced this same issue in both browsers. Flash can be a hog, especially when it is misused, as it often is. I have seen otherwise simple sites bomb out because of the way flash was used on the site to replace form fields and items like that.
Javascript is one of the main culprits of browser issues because none of the browsers stick to the standards and that makes Javascript programing pure hell. I am all for just having a single browser. The folks that think otherwise are not old enough to remember the DOS days and how much of a pain it was to deal with a gazillion different versions of DOS…none of which was compatible with the other.
