[AquaticLife] new/used tanks

I wish I could sell useless stuff in forums.. I’d be a millionaire… not that I have much useless stuff laying around.. all my junk.. oops.. I mean stuff, is useful. LOL
Read my recent post about cleaning driftwood.. hint: use your dishwasher for sterilizing things that can be submerged.
As far as cleaning, it depends on what the issue is. Give us specifics about what item you are cleaning and what kind of “dirt” issue you are having and we can address them better. Gravel should be rinsed (I use a colander in my sink and rinse it) and used gravel should then be boiled. Don’t bake it in your oven. I tried that once with the colored gravel and it puts off an awful burning plastic like smell. LOL I was trying to dry it after the boiling process, so I could put it in a box for storage and I didn’t want to wait for it to air dry. The ex-wife’s cookie sheets worked great for this… except for the smell.. which also reminded me of her baking. LOL
Hard water build-up, the white crusty stuff, can be removed with plain white vinegar.
If you search the messages section for - cleaning used tank - or - cleaning used filter - you’ll likely find lots of posts with dozens of ideas.. or post your specifics and I’m sure someone will address them with a helpful hint.
